Walmart has a reputation of not being known for their quality products, but rather instead for their low prices.
Because of this, many customers are surprised to know that Walmart sells luxury items such as top-brand belts, perfume, watches, bags, and shoes.
Why does Walmart sell Louis Vuitton and Gucci?
Walmart is a massive marketplace, both in-store and online. Many third-party resellers look to companies like Walmart and Amazon in order to get their products in front of the right customers. Louis Vuitton and Gucci products are sold at “discounted” prices on Walmart.com.
We put “discounted” in quotations because most of their products are still selling for roughly ~$900-$1,500 per item for these luxury brands.
This has been a huge discussion in both the fashion and consumer world since these top-selling brands authorized sales through Walmart.com.

Why do Gucci and Louis Vuitton Sell their Items at Walmart?
Gucci and Louis Vuitton themselves don’t necessarily sell their products through Walmart.com.
Third-party sellers and warehouses use Walmart to sell their overstock. One of the more popular sellers on Walmart is sold and shipped by “theBagriculture,” an online overstock seller of luxury goods.
TheBagriculture allows people to “buy, sell, and trade” through their site, and they sell discounted products through sites like Walmart.com.
This means that even though brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton allow their products to be sold through sites like Walmart.com, that does not mean that they, themselves, are selling them.
Why Do They Allow It?
It is unclear why these top-selling brands would allow their products to be sold at a blue-collar, affordable, “low prices” place like Walmart.
Gucci and Louis Vuitton sell to a very particular clientele, one that speaks of quality, rarity, and luxury, often only catering to the very wealthy.
Because of this, selling their products on Walmart.com can put a damper on their reputation for being a high-fashion and luxury brand.
However, anyone who knows anything about fashion or high-selling brands will know that Gucci and Louis Vuitton are top-quality, even if they found one of their bags in a resale shop or at a garage sale.
So, even though Walmart isn’t exactly where you would expect to find a Gucci wristwatch or Louis Vuitton bag, you probably won’t turn your nose up at discounted prices.
Which Gucci Products Can you Buy at Walmart?
There are many products online through Walmart.com that you can buy from the Gucci brand.
Almost all those Gucci products are sold and shipped through a third-party dealer such as Giftexpress.com and ForeverLux.
These are some Gucci products you can find on Walmart.com:
- Belts
- Fragrances & Perfumes (Such as “Bloom” & “Bamboo”)
- Wristwatches
- Bags
- Wallets
- Totes
- Clutch Purses
- Sunglasses
- Body Wash
- Styling Products
- Pre-owned Products
Which Louis Vuitton Products Can You Buy at Walmart?
Luis Vuitton doesn’t have as big of a variety of products as Gucci, but there are still plenty of things to choose from on Walmart’s site.
Almost all Louis Vuitton products on Walmart.com are sold and shipped through a third-party dealer such as AZVETTES and TheBagriculture.
These are some Louis Vuitton products you can find on Walmart.com:
- Handbags
- Messenger & Shoulder Bags
- Wallets & Clutch Purses
- Luggage & Luggage Sets
- Backpacks
- Jewelry
- Pre-owned Products
Can I Be Sure the Products are Original?
Walmart has had a lot of trouble in the past for selling counterfeit products of high-quality brands.
Back in 2006, Walmart was being sued by Louis Vuitton for selling counterfeit versions of their Fendi brand bags and wallets, which were being sold in Sam’s Club stores.
According to a few sources, Walmart had to pay upwards of 6 million dollars in a lawsuit settlement, which ended their ability to sell those products in their stores.
After The Lawsuit and Now
Since then, Walmart has become a multi-billion dollar industry with footholds in markets all over the world. This is not something that top brands and retailers can pass up as an opportunity to make more money off of their products.
This means that Walmart is guaranteeing that the products on their website – although NOT sold by the actual brand themselves and instead through third-party sites – are legitimate.
Otherwise, they would have another lawsuit on their hands.
However, it is always very important to keep in mind that neither Walmart nor Gucci and Louis Vuitton are selling and shipping these products.
The companies that you need to be aware of and wary of are those that we’ve listed before, such as AZVETTES, TheBagriculture, Giftexpress.com, and ForeverLux who market, post to Walmart.com, sell and ship the item you are buying.
Controversy and Brand Integrity
There is, however, a lot of controversy over whether or not top-selling brands like Louis Vuitton and Gucci should even be sold in a store like Walmart.
This is due to two reasons that both center around brand integrity: Walmart’s promise of “low prices” and Louis Vuitton and Gucci’s promises of high-quality, rare items.
Brand integrity means that what you’re being advertised and sold is what you ultimately end up with.
Walmart’s major selling point is its low prices and its blue-collar affordability. However, with the integration of top-selling brands that are being sold by third-party overstock companies, Walmart is stating that they will sell anything they can get their hands on and will sell it for the right price.
Not to mention that wealthy consumers of brands like Louis Vuitton and Gucci are usually not the kind of people to walk into a Walmart. This muddies the water of brand integrity for these consumers as well, who would expect to find a Gucci bag in a more “upscale” store.
While both arguments have valid reasoning, the bottom line for both issues comes down to money.
Neither Walmart nor these top-selling brands put their brand integrity before their economic needs, and they will sacrifice a little bit of reputation in order to get their products in front of as many online shoppers as possible.
Are the Products Sold Cheaper Than in the Brand Stores?
The products on Walmart that you can buy from these third-party warehouses and overstock sites are usually “discounted.”
As we’ve mentioned before, we put “discounted” in quotations because most of their products are still selling for roughly ~$900-$1,500 per item for these luxury brands.
There are also “pre-owned” or “used” items from these brands on the Walmart site that are still charging upwards of $500+ dollars for used bags, wallets, or even wristwatches.
Furthermore, a small bottle of Gucci perfume can run upwards of $50 or $75! However, on Gucci’s real site, a bottle of their Bloom Perfume will cost you from $100-$150 per unit.
Therefore, you can bet that the Walmart options you are getting are going to be cheaper than in-store, but you will also have to keep in mind that these products are coming from a third-party site, and not Gucci or Louis Vuitton themselves.
Can I Find Gucci and Louis Vuitton Products in all Walmart Stores?
As far as we can tell, Louis Vuitton and Gucci products are only found online through Walmart.com through the Walmart company.
This is most likely to deter theft and to prevent having to keep these expensive products in a warehouse on-site where anyone could have access to them. Not to mention that these products are mostly sold and shipped by third-party companies that we have listed above.
Remember, Walmart is just hosting these sites on their website and raking in a small percentage of the sale for the hosting platform.
However, the smaller items such as perfume and wristwatches that can be stored and locked in a case in the Walmart stores can be picked up in person without having to order online.
If you are looking to purchase a luxury item from either of these brands, using the Walmart site is the only way to get access to them.
Just make sure to do your homework and watch which companies are selling and shipping the products that you purchase.
Final Thoughts
Even though Walmart has supposedly learned their lesson about selling top-brand products through their stores and in their name, it is still unclear if you should be buying from their site.
While Walmart would be taking a lot of heat and brunt of the problem if your products don’t reach you, turn out to be fake, or are damaged, it might just be more worth it to purchase directly from the brands themselves, rather than rely on third-party overstock sites.
Even though buying straight from Gucci or Louis Vuitton is going to be much more expensive, it is probably better to know that you are getting exactly what you pay for when you purchase it.
